William Ruben” Ebron, 32, is accused of concocting a plot to stash keys in his sock and mouth and then use them to slip out of his handcuffs, jump out of a jail van and escape in a getaway car, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrest report. Investigators found out about the plan Monday when another inmate came forward with multiple recorded conversations detailing how Ebron allegedly planned to escape from custody. Ebron directed the inmate to have the getaway car placed east of the jail,” the report said. Ebron was arrested Thursday on charges of attempted escape from a jail, criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of a concealed handcuff key, and smuggling contraband into a detention facility, all felonies, jail records show. Read More View Comments | Post a Comment Share: Human remains unearthed at Clay County home Submitted by FirstCoastNews Web Staff Wednesday, June 17th, 2015, 3:32pm GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla.Investigators unearthed human remains Wednesday morning after receiving a tip that someone was buried behind a Green Cove Springs home, authorities said. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office started investigating after an outside agency contacted deputies with information that a former resident, identified as Janell Adams, had been buried in a backyard on Creekfront Drive, investigators said. Investigators have not yet confirmed whether the remains belong to Adams, a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said. They’re being examined by the Medical Examiner’s office. Adams’ son, Brian Adams, remains in police custody in Columbus County, North Carolina on unrelated charges, deputies said. He’s being held on $150,000 bond for being a fugitive from another state. All Community Sponsors FHP: 5 killed, 2 injured in Clay County crash Submitted by FirstCoastNews Web Staff Wednesday, June 17th, 2015, 5:36am CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A head-on crash near Keystone Heights on Tuesday afternoon killed five adults, injured two children and shut down traffic on State Road 21, according to Florida Highway Patrol. Two vehicles collided on SR 21 near State Road 16 about 3 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said it happened when a northbound Toyota carrying four adults and two children on SR 21 veered across the center line and struck a southbound Nissan. The four adults in the Toyota died, Capt. Keith Gaston told First Coast News. The children in the Toyota, ages 2 and 4, are in critical but stable condition and are expected to recover, troopers said. The lone driver of the Nissan, Chelsea L. Johnson, 22, of Melrose, did not survive the wreck. GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla.Police in Green Cove Springs are calling for your help to locate a teenage runaway who went missing Sunday evening. Chase Godwin, 14, was last seen on Melrose Avenue about 5 or 6 p.m., according to the Green Cove Springs Police Department. Still, another person reported seeing him at Spring Park around the same time. Godwin was wearing tan shorts, a black button-down shirt, a black cap and black shoes at the time, police said. He has short light brown hair, green eyes and is approximately 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds. If you’ve seen him, please call police at (904) 297-7300. View Comments | Post a Comment Share: 3 boats lost in dock fire Submitted by FirstCoastNews Web Staff Sunday, May 10th, 2015, 8:07am GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — A dock fire destroyed three boats in Clay County early Sunday morning. No injuries were reported in the fire. The boats lost included a 47-foot Boatel yacht, a 19-foot Ski Nantique and a 16-foot Carolina Skif. The dock was also lost in the blaze. The fire occurred at 2130 Treasure Point Road in Green Cove Springs. Twenty-one fire rescue units reportedly responded to the fire. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
